So, my wife bought this domain a year or so ago, with the hope that I might build a ‘his’ version of her blog ApplianceWhore.com. I was touched when I saw ‘drilldaddy.com’ in my birthday card, although I had zero idea of what to do with it. Frankly, I still don’t really know what to do with it, but I’m eager to at least give it a shot.

Here’s a little background. I’m almost 40 years old. I live in a semi-rundown apartment which our landlord doesn’t upkeep. The rent is cheap as dirt and the place is pretty big. Over the past five years, I’ve turned the dump into a semi-livable space using nothing but elbow grease and the occasional bunch of hardware. My attempts to make our lives in The Dump is purely selfish - when we move out of here, I’m going to reverse engineer as much of it as possible. No free rides for cheapo landlords.

The way I see it, these these mini-projects are all about me learning how to be a home fix-it guy, woodsmith, back porch gardener… a man. I grew up in the suburbs of New York City, mowed the lawn, laid brick, painted stuff and stained furniture with my very talented weekend warrior dad. If anything, I dream of the day to own my own house and completely redesign it from top to bottom, inside out.

So thats the back story and a little bit of the front story. Where this thing is going to go, I have no idea… kinda like life.
